You are as disciplined as you want to be.

21 days is the perfect amount of time to see motivating results, but it won’t change your life. Most people will stop because they hit their goal, and go back to their old ways. I would know, I’ve been here over and over for a decade. This time it’s different. I realized the 21 day challenge is a scam. The change you want is on the other side of discomfort, which is long past 21 days, 30 days, hell beyond 50 days.

The growth I am experiencing is because I’m taking this challenge serious and applying the learnings and patterns into my life. For example, I took what I learned from week one, applied it to week two and saw results on week three. This way of thinking and acting has helped me execute more each day because I’m only focused on accomplishing planned daily tasks. Sounds very simple, and DUH, but you’d be surprised how hard this is.

In the past 21 days I have been able to accomplish the below.

Drop 12.6 lbs. These are real lbs not the kind that you gain back after one meal. I’ve noticed my body shrinking and am almost to the point of needing a new hole on my belt, first time in 10 years! Oh, and I Dropped 3.2% body fat.

I’ve accomplished this by running 5 miles every morning at 5am (mon-fri) and 6 miles on Saturday-Sunday. Plus an indoor full body workout everyday.

I have also been cooking my own meals. I only drink water and black coffee. I eat lean meat such as chicken, salmon, or turkey. I’ve limited my steak intake.

PS: This alone (mixed with not drinking) has saved me almost $700. No eating out, no brunch, no fast food, no uber eats.

I read “Fizz”, a Word of Mouth Marketing book, cover to cover. I haven’t read a book cover to cover in years. This book sparked some actionable ideas that I am applying right now at work. It motivated me to get more dialed in on the results I’m looking for. The notes I took are now on a doc that I will be sharing soon.

I have ran 126.8 miles in the past 21 days. Making this the most consecutive days of running in a row I have ever done.

I have drank 21 gallons of water. Drinking water isn’t hard. Two workouts, lunch, and daily thirst, I drink more than a gallon most days.

No alcohol in 21 days. That is the longest I have gone in four + years without a delicious IPA. Also, this is one of the biggest factors to the weight drop and money savings. This was hard for the first couple weeks, but the thirst week was a breeze. Seeing results will help you make better choices.

Conclusion: You’re In Control. Just Zoned Out. (Advice to myself)

I’m realizing I am in more control of my life than I thought. However, if I keep repeating what I am doing, I won’t grow like I need to. This challenge is opening my eyes up to how repetitive my life is and how dangerous that can be if I’m not careful.

Comfort comes in repetitive actions that stop challenging you.

I hope this post will motivate you to take a little more action in your personal life. It’s helping me be more awake to the importance of optimizing each day.

Stay awesome friends!

Omar.
